Learning Communities update

April 7th, 2021

Winter 2021 course development is underway in the Learning Communities project, with six teams and a total of 12 teachers working on eleven new courses to be launched in the F21 and W22 semesters. Working remotely imposes significant constraints on the course design process, just as it does with teaching. However, as in the second half of last year’s winter semester, MS Teams is allowing co-teachers to work on documents asynchronously, meet via video chats, access all the relevant course design resources, and in short, create an almost satisfactory stand-in for in-person collaboration.

After “Rebellion” students discuss climate change at Feb. 18 panel

Five inspiring °®¶¹´«Ã½students and alumni will discuss their views and actions on the Climate Crisis at the Environmental Seminar at °®¶¹´«Ã½(virtually) on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m.

The 2019 climate march was featured in an episode of David Suzuki's The Nature of Things entitled "Rebellion". The mobilization of the College was spearheaded by the Green Earth Club. Students will discuss their involvement in the march as youth activists and present their current projects.

Presentations will be followed by a Q & A. This panel is being moderated by Brian Mader and introduced by Anna-Liisa Aunio. Please watch the episode Rebellion, which is available free on CBC Gem here:

When Math Meets Art

Still a few days to participate in Amnesty International’s write-a-thon

On Thursday, Dec. 10, 10 °®¶¹´«Ã½students and faculty marked the International Day of Human Rights with Amnesty International's write-a-thon (), which aims to bring attention to 10 cases of injustice around the world.

Since 2000, 75% of the 169 people who have been targeted for this campaign have been freed!  In one hour, we were able to complete letters for approximately 5 out of the 10 cases highlighted, which will amount to over 50 letters, and will contribute to the thousands that were written from people all over the world.

If you were unable to attend, but would still like to participate, here is a link to the recording of the session: Ìý.If you have completed or will complete letters, please let Daniel Goldsmith know (via MIO) how many by next Friday, Dec. 18 so he can send numbers to Amnesty to include in their count.


Most exams moved online
