Get your gifts wrapped at Alexis Nihon by ývolunteers

December 15th, 2021

Get your gifts wrapped by ývolunteers every day and many evenings until end of day on Dec. 24. Your gift will be wrapped for a donation of $4 or more depending on the size of the package.

Our gift-wrapping station is located on the Mezzanine level of Alexis Nihon Mall right next to Cultures and the food court. Your donation will help us offer community-building and Living Campus projects that contribute to the well-being of our students. Thanks to Alexis Nihon for providing the store and all the gift-wrapping supplies. Thanks to the more than 200 students, employees and friends who are giving their time to staff all the store hours.

Their involvement in student life, commitment to community service and determination to succeed at CEGEP enrich the ýcommunity and make us hopeful about the future. Congratulations to our students! Thank you to all the donors, teachers and employees who make the awards possible.

Giving Tuesday is Nov. 30

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that encourages individuals to support their favourite cause and make an impact in their community. The date of Giving Tuesday this year is Nov. 30, but the benefits of giving last all year.

ýhas participated in this activity in the past with great success. This year, we are launching a program for giving that not only helps various members of our community and supports community-building projects, but one that also touches our hearts.

On Tuesday, Nov. 23, we will begin a one-week countdown to Giving Tuesday on our social media channels:

182 students have received DCFAB bursary to date

A total of $ 127,250 has been distributed through the ýCollege Financial Aid Bursary (DCFAB) to 182 students to date. The average bursary was $699.

As a response to the economic hardships brought about by the pandemic, the DCFAB was set up last fall by the ýStudent Union (DSU), the Student Services team of the College and the ýCollege Foundation (DCF). The Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur has provided additional support.

“We are working to ensure that ýstudents can continue their education without interruption. The creation of the DCFAB reflects our commitment to promote excellence in education, especially during difficult times," said Ursula Cabral of the DCF.

Students can continue to apply for the bursary through the DCF website.

Donations are still needed to keep helping our students in this unprecedented situation.


Art sale benefitting Peace Garden

Until the end of May, you can purchase an original artwork by a ýstudent or employee. All proceeds benefit the Peace Garden.

The goal of the Peace Garden is to create a green space that is both commemorative and symbolic of life and renewal, while making a positive environmental impact.

ճPeace Garden grows a variety of native flowers and shrubs, and has pathways built in the shape of infinity loops, circular and flowing, that not only beautifies the grounds, but benefit local wildlife.

Golf Tournament cancelled for 2021

April 7th, 2021

The Annual ýCollege Foundation Golf Tournament has been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. However, we look forward to the next tournament, planned for June 2022.

The Golf Tournament brings together the ýcommunity and friends of ýto raise funds to benefit students. Over the years, the tournament has raised over $500,000 to benefit the College.

While the tournament has been cancelled, there is still a need for donations. We invite those who usually attend to consider making a donation to help support our students. to donate now.

We sincerely hope that we will see you on the greens in 2022! We can look forward to a daylong event, which includes breakfast, a round of golf, a banquet supper and prizes. Past honourary chairpersons include ýBlues hockey player and Olympic gold medallist Marie-Philip Poulin and actor Catherine Bérubé (Class of 2004, Theatre).


Seeking artist contributions for Earth Week event

March 23rd, 2021

Dawson's Earth Week is fast approaching. We are reaching out to any staff, faculty or student who would like to contribute a piece of art: canvas painting, digital painting prints, photographs, sculptures, etc. to this year's Earth Week fundraiser. The theme for the pieces is anything nature, animals, sustainability, Earth. They will all be put up for sale online between April 19 and April 30. Your name and/or social media accounts will be mentioned, and all the money raised will help fund Dawson's beautiful Peace Garden.

No pieces will be turned away. Thank you in advance for caring for our garden!
