Congrats to the Class of 2020!

August 25th, 2020

Another 2,600 graduates joined the big family of ýCollege alumni over the summer.

In the coming weeks, they will all receive a special grad package in the mail. The College made a special Virtual Commencement Speech video addressed to the Class of 2020 and held an intimate Awards Ceremony Aug. 12.

The Class of 2020 is graduating during a pandemic and a shutdown. As a way to pay tribute to their efforts, the Communications Office has prepared a surprise video.

Virtual launch June 16 for new children’s book by Andrew Katz

Next Tuesday, June 16 at 6 p.m., Andrew Katz (English Department) will be virtually launching his second picture book, I JUST WANT TO BE SUPER! / JE SUIS SUPER NINO!  illustrated by ýIllustration graduate Tony Luzano (2014).The story is about a young kid with TONS of energy. Vernissage Season is going digital June 3-18

Nick Ladd, a graduate of both Illustration and 3D Animation and Computer-Generated Imagery, came to the rescue of Vernissage Season with a customized platform that his company Studio Syro has built for ýCollege.

Six programs in the Creative and Applied Arts will be hosting vernissage events from June 3-18. First up is Illustration on June 3.

Diagnostic Imaging students graduated early and now working on COVID frontlines

Grateful, surreal, overjoyed, bittersweet are some of the words that new graduates of the Diagnostic Imaging Program at ýCollege used to describe their feelings about graduating early during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CRLT student Kathleen Collins awarded Lieutenant Governor Youth Medal

April 28th, 2020

“A perfect volunteer” was a key phrase used in the nomination of Kathleen Collins for the Lieutenant Governor Youth Medal, awarded by Quebec’s Lieutenant Governor to students who “demonstrate a sustained voluntary action at the community and social levels.”

Over 40 Nursing students complete program early

April 21st, 2020

On April 17, over 40 members of the Class of 2020 ýCollege Nursing Program completed their program. This was about two weeks ahead of schedule to allow the new graduates to contribute to the healthcare system now.

Steven Pinker lends his support to COVID-19 Student Fund

April 21st, 2020

Eminent Harvard professor, world-renowned psychologist and author Steven Pinker (Class of 1973) is supporting Dawson's efforts to raise funds for students in need. An estimated 1,700 ýstudents may be having trouble covering food and rent expenses.

Dr. Pinker sent this quote to ýCollege last week:

"For more than fifty years, ýhas been educating people from all parts of society to make contributions to all walks of life. As a proud alumnus, I encourage you all to support this generation of ýstudents, who on top of all the challenges of college are facing additional hardships in this unprecedented crisis."

To date, thanks to your contributions and donations from friends and alumni, ýCollege has raised just shy of $2,000, with more expected soon.

Special screening of ýalumni films March 27

Cinema-Communications is organizing a special screening of three films made by alumni that have been nominated or won major film prizes:

Oscar nomination in 2020 -  dzٳǴǻ directed by Meryam Joobeur (Cin|Com alumna)
Oscar nomination in 2019 - Fauve directed by Jeremy Comte; produced by Evren Boisjoli (Cin|Com alumnus)
2019 GRAND PRIX RPCÉ - FESTIVAL DU NOUVEAU CINÉMA: ILA Da Rainha, directed by Kayla Fragman (ALC alumna)

Screening and discussion with the filmmakers: March 27 at 2:30 p.m. in 4C.1
