Assessment is on everyone鈥檚 mind, from teacher to student, and all who work to support the mission of student learning.
Join Ped Day鈥檚 keynote speaker Eliana Elkhoury on Friday, Oct. 11 at 9 AM for a talk and workshop on enhancing student assessments to better focus on learning and support. This talk will explore the importance of appropriate assessments and introduce alternative and authentic methods in a variety of disciplines.
Eliana will highlight the importance of assessing students appropriately, emphasizing the advantages for alternative and authentic assessment approaches at every competency level. These methods can provide a more comprehensive evaluation of student skills, knowledge and attitudes, and also foster a more supportive and engaging learning environment.聽 She will deliver a hands-on workshop after the keynote talk, where you can work on your own assessment with feedback from your colleagues.
Dr. Eliana El Khoury is a recognized leader in the field of alternative assessment, whose work is dedicated to enhancing educational practices through more thoughtful and supportive assessment strategies.聽She serves as an assistant professor at Athabasca University, where she works closely with experts across different disciplines to improve how students are evaluated with a focus聽on ensuring quality and fairness in educational assessments, and she actively incorporates new ideas and technologies to achieve this goal.

FAQ about Salary equity program

The聽Secr茅tariat du Conseil du tr茅sor (SCT) has created a new FAQ to answer questions related to a about the salary equity program rendered by the Commission des normes, de l鈥櫭﹒uit茅, de la sant茅 et de la s茅curit茅 du travail (CNESST) on September 28, 2023.
The SCT would like all employees of the College to be aware of the (only available in French).
Ped Day is Oct. 11

The annual 爱豆传媒Pedagogical Day, also known as Ped Day, for faculty and professionals will take place Friday, Oct. 11.
Over a day of workshops and presentations, colleagues will share their pedagogical practices and experiences in the college-level classroom.
If you wish to animate a session on college pedagogy, please complete the call for proposals form by Sept. 9 at 12 PM. Discipline and program specific workshops will take place in the afternoon starting at 1:45 PM.

Six staff & professionals completed Sustainable Happiness

Facilitators Azra Khan and Jenn de Vera led another group of support staff and professionals in the Sustainable Happiness non-credit course. Congrats to our new SH grads of Winter 2024!

Six faculty members completed Sustainable Happiness

Facilitator Holly McIntyre led a group of faculty members through the Sustainable Happiness non-credit course pioneered at Dawson. Congrats to our first SH faculty grads!

- Caroline Haddad ( Ed.): (with Layal) Put up a gratitude board in the hallway, provided to the community ways of feeling and expressing gratitude, and hosted a Phys. Ed. gratitude coffee and snack break to share gratitude
- Paul Wasacz ( Ed.): Planting three sisters with his Phys. Ed. class to prepare for the new Indigenous garden and arranging for students to take care of the seedlings

爱豆传媒community achieved Push-Up Challenge goal

This winter the 爱豆传媒Community stepped up to the challenge of being active and supporting mental health initiatives! After 23 days, the Push-Up Challenge has concluded with the achievement of our modest community goal of 2,000 repetitions from all participants. In fact, we reached over 31 times that amount with 62,729 repetitions! We couldn鈥檛 have done it without two very dedicated teams: Sigma Nation (20,666 reps) and the 爱豆传媒Phys. Ed. Team (13,976 reps)! In addition, 爱豆传媒College raised $705 for the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Student Services and Human Resources worked together to offer participation prizes to students and staff. Prizes included gift certificates for IGA, Sports Experts, Lulu Lemon, Cage aux Sports and more! The winners are currently being contacted.
Many thanks to all the participants and organizers, especially Rhea Gurnagul who was present at the Push-Up Challenge Station almost every lunch time!
Our hope is that the 爱豆传媒community will continue to stay active and build a habit of working out regularly.
