GOS – April 1, 2021

All non-permanent teachers are strongly encouraged to submit the General Offer of Service (GOS) for all available day or continuing education teaching assignments for 2021-2022.

The online application will be available from April 1, 2021 and must be received by Human Resources no later than April 30, 2021 at 23:59 PM.

New insurance rates

Please note that the College has received new group insurance rates from SSQ and La Capitale for 2021.  These new rates came into effective the pay of January 21, 2021.

All pertinent information can be found on a webpage in the Read More link.  Go to that page, then choose among the employment categories available and scroll down for the rates.

Please take a moment to review the various benefit deductions on your January 21st pay statement (please keep in mind that the listed premium rates from La Capitale and SSQ do not include the mandatory 9% sales tax). The 1249 Club is back!!!

Did you know that it takes 12 female honey bees to travel 1249 kilometers together to produce 1 teaspoon of HONEY? Let’s get moving like the bees with 12 weekly wellness activities over 4 weeks including 9 live activities to connect and engage with the community!

Dawson’s Sustainability Office and Human Resources, with contributions from departments and services across the college, are excited to offer 4 weeks of wellness activities to all ýEmployees!

  • February 15-March 12, 2021.
  • Activities hosted mostly by Dawson’s very own Faculty, Staff and Retirees!
  • Weekly Participation Prizes will be raffled 1249 swag, Dawson’s rooftop honey, gift cards to local shops and more!

Updates to Policy for a Smoke-Free College

January 26th, 2021

The Policy for a Smoke-Free College was updated in November. The main changes to the policy are:

  • Progressive sanctions for students and employees, including fines
  • Cannabis is prohibited
  • Roles and responsibilities have been updated
  • Third-hand smoke (residue that remains on objects) is included
  • Tips and support available for employees through Human Resources and for students through College Nurse Julie Drolet
  • What to do if a student is vaping/smoking during a Zoom class

Students encourage teachers to use Sustainable Happiness in class at Ped Days

January 26th, 2021

At Ped Days on Jan. 20, the tables were turned as students taught teachers for the first time at the annual professional development event for teachers.

Four final-year CRLT students shared Sustainable Happiness with teachers in the hopes of making students and teachers in virtual classrooms more connected, engaged and happy.

Colleagues shared knowledge at Support Staff Training Day

December 15th, 2020

Support Staff Training Day was held Dec. 3. The program included training on Teams, Planner, Sustainable Happiness, diversity and anti-bias. Sessions drew 30 to 75 participants, and there were prizes drawn for participants in each of the four sessions. The presenters were Jonathan Perlman, Jennifer de Vera and Debra Gill, colleagues who shared their knowledge and best practices. Virginia Law, Mona Leroux, Santa Di Stefano and Stela Blazic won prizes.


Deadline extended to Jan. 31 for Sexual Violence Prevention Training

December 15th, 2020

All employees must complete a mandatory 40-minute training on Sexual Violence Prevention as part of the College's Policy on Sexual Violence.

The deadline has now been extended until Jan. 31. You can do the training in modules or all at once. You can also take breaks. This is something you are expected to do as part of your job during working hours.

Important changes announced by SSQ to your insurance plan

November 3rd, 2020

The College has been informed of important and significant changes to the SSQ group insurance contract, J9999 (applies to Professionals and Support Staff).  All changes will come into effect January 1, 2021. The new group insurance plan is named “Alter Ego” and all members currently enrolled with SSQ will be required to register their choices for the new plan through the SSQ online Customer Centre between November 9 to December 4, 2020.

The SSQ has created a website, , which has important information detailing the new plan structure, types of coverage and cost, informational videos and more.
