CRISPESH is a centre for applied research and transfer (CCTT) in partnership with ýand the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal. Their mandate is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the development and promotion of social practices that foster academic, social and professional inclusion for people with disabilities.


70 ýstudents signed up for AI workshops this fall

September 21st, 2022

ýAI and are hosting a series of workshops, which will give ýstudents the opportunity to learn AI through hands-on learning. The workshop series will cover a wide range of AI topics including data manipulation, fundamental machine learning models, deep learning, reinforcement learning and other advanced topics.

70 ýstudents are signed up to take part in the workshops. The series of eight workshops will begin this Saturday, Sept. 24 and end on Nov. 19. Students will have the opportunity to present their work and learnings at the end of the program.

This workshop series is available to college students in Quebec and is made possible by the generous funding of a NovaScience Program grant awarded to DawsonAI from the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation.

Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer will give Peace Week keynote Sept. 15

September 7th, 2022

Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer will offer perspectives on Indigenous sciences and western science in her Peace Week keynote address, entitled Confronting Western Science Epistemology, online at ýat 2 p.m. on Sept. 15. In her publications and her speaking engagements, she proposes a revolutionary way to rethink how we approach the land and the natural sciences.

Kimmerer is a mother, scientist, decorated professor and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. She is a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Environmental Biology and the founder and director of the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment, whose mission is to create programs which draw on the wisdom of both Indigenous and scientific knowledge for our shared goals of sustainability.

Her interests in restoration include not only restoration of ecological communities, but restoration of our relationships to land. She holds a BSc in Botany from SUNY ESF, an MS and PhD in Botany from the University of Wisconsin and is the author of numerous scientific papers on plant ecology, bryophyte ecology, traditional knowledge and restoration ecology.
