Hiroshima ginkgos being nurtured at Dawson

Six ginkgo trees were the only survivors in the immediate blast area of the world’s first atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945 during World War II. Now °®¶¹´«Ã½College is nurturing 12 saplings from these unique survivors and symbols of hope and resilience.

400 seedlings planted last week

On May 13, spring came to °®¶¹´«Ã½College! A large order of 400 seedlings arrived for the Theatre Garden, which is outside the °®¶¹´«Ã½College Theatre on the Atwater side of the campus.
Jennifer de Vera and Megan Jutras of the Sustainability Office planted 400 plants including leafy greens, herbs and edible flowers.
This week they will continue planting peas, beans, radish, beets and carrots.
