Mylène Saucier appointed Assistant Dean of SSBT

Mylène Saucier began her new position as Assistant Dean of Social Science and Business Technologies at the end of March. Prior to taking on this new role, Mylène had been a teacher in the Physiotherapy Technology program.

Kayla Tutino became the new head coach of the ýBlues Division 1 Women’s Hockey Team in mid-April but has not had the chance to meet her players yet.

Ian MacKenzie wins SALTISE award

Ian MacKenzie (English) was honoured with the 2020 SALTISE Best Practice & Pedagogical Innovators Award. Ian was nominated for his work as founder and director of Dawson’s Writing in the Disciplines (WID). Ian has inspired, guided and supported faculty across 28 different departments, and has been a leader within the Learning Communities at ýCollege. The award is given annually at the SALTISE conference. There will be a feature about Ian and this great achievement coming soon on the ýCollege website and in D News.

SALTISE will acknowledge Ian and the other awardees within the pages of a Conference Program/Proceedings. SALTISE will distribute this souvenir publication. If you are not already on the SALTISE newsletter mailing list, send an email.

Sustainability, Well-being for all

400 seedlings planted last week

On May 13, spring came to ýCollege! A large order of 400 seedlings arrived for the Theatre Garden, which is outside the ýCollege Theatre on the Atwater side of the campus.

Jennifer de Vera and Megan Jutras of the Sustainability Office planted 400 plants including leafy greens, herbs and edible flowers.

This week they will continue planting peas, beans, radish, beets and carrots.

Émilie Robert is new director of research at CRISPESH

On May 11, Émilie Robert began her new position as Director of Research and Transfer at CRISPESH, a CCTT (College Centre for the Transfer of Technologies) at ýCollege in partnership with the Cégep du Vieux Montréal that is unique in Quebec.  The focus of our CCTT is on conducting applied research to improve the lives of people living in a disabling situation.

Émilie holds a doctorate in Public Health from Université de Montréal, and has dedicated a great part of her life to improving conditions for people in vulnerable situations. She has a background in international development and expertise in public health, knowledge sharing and collaborative evaluation.

Save the date: “Masques” to be livestreamed May 29

The Professional Theatre Department welcomes you to attend Masques, written and performed by the graduating students. A vocal masque is a style of performance in which one actor plays multiple characters, telling an original story. This event will be live-streamed May 29 at 7:30 p.m.
